Images 34 - the best
of British illustration 2010 was launched at the private view party at
the LCC on 7th September 2010. Images 34 - the best
of British illustration 2010
Now in its 34th year, Images features an introduction by the distinguished
New York based teacher and commentator Steven Heller and special feature,
the Critic's Award, selected by the Editor of The Observer, John
Mulholland.
Images 34 is essential for those looking for an overview of current
illustration, and an excellent source tool for leading industry professionals.
The personal and informative perspectives offered in the editorial pieces
by John O'Reilly on New Media, Liz
Farrelly on Design and Peter Lyle on Advertising, provide insightful comments on the current state of the
industry.
From the 1400 artworks submitted to the Images 34
competition, 400 illustrations were selected by an expert panel of
internationally acclaimed judges, including Matt Small - Client Service Director at Pearlfisher;
Graham Wood - Head of Art JWT and Nol Davis - Head of Creative Services
Channel 5 and illustrator Andrew Rae.
These 400 featured artworks showcase the incredible
talents of illustrators who have made a significant contribution to their
industry over the last year, including artwork from the widespread 'BBC Proms' campaign commissioned
by Premm Design and delightfully illustrated by Andy Potts. Rod Hunt provides
intricate imagery for the highly successful "Top Gear - Where's Stig?" book,
and displayed alongside intriguingly illustrated inside spreads by David
Hughes for his book "Walking The Dog" and a poster by Ralph Steadman are
striking editorial pieces by Noma Bar and Artbombers, as well as the top
young illustration talent of the future published in the New Talent category.
We will upload a few spreads soon, but meanwhile you can check out the
