Introduction to Images
Images is the UK's leading illustration competition, annual, awards show, and touring exhibition dedicated to showcasing the very best in new British illustration. It is unique in that it is Britain's only jury-selected illustration competition, judged by a highly regarded panel of industry experts.
The annually published book celebrates illustration excellence and is distributed to a specially targeted list of 4000 international commissioners and sold worldwide.
Images stands out from its competitors both in content and format The structure and design of Images combines contemporary book design of the highest quality with functionality making it an indispensable tool for leading commissioners and industry professionals. Your work is seen by a highly respected panel of judges Judges mark each entry in their judging group anonymously with only the highest scoring images being invited to feature in the book. Images encourages critical debate Each year the Critic's Award is chosen by a personality from the world of arts, culture and design and invited to select a favourite image out of the main collection. The Award winner is presented with a trophy and a special feature in Images. Images celebrates the best of new British illustration Award winning illustrators and their work are are profiled in a special section within the book and presented with a trophy or certificate on the Awards Night. Their work is displayed free of charge in the book, at the London show and automatically takes part in the nationwide tour. Images supports new talent in illustration A special New Talent section features the work of students and recent graduates. Their courses and tutors are listed in the caption of each selected entry encouraging competition and excellence. Once again this year the award winners in this category will receive the Images New Talent Refresh! Award. Sponsored by The Coningsby Gallery worth Gold: £500, Silver: £250 and Bronze: £150. Successful entrants will have the opportunity to show work at the spotlighted talent section, an online showcase of the best creative talent in design, advertising and communication, presented by D&AD. All student award winners will be given a year's free, unlimited use of directory lists produced by the AOI. Images acknowledges commissioners of illustration The caption of each published image includes the name of the commissioner, the commissioning agency or the client. Submitting commissioners, agents and colleges whose illustration projects are selected for publication will be acknowledged with their logo on a special page in the book.
